The guest comes first.

Hotel security has to keep guests safe without making them feel watched. Officers should be easy to talk to and comfortable working next to the front desk.

That’s why most hotel posts we staff are unarmed.

The lobby after midnight.

Downtown hotels see a lot of foot traffic late at night, and not all of it belongs to registered guests. An overnight officer near the entrance backs up the front desk and keeps the lobby for guests.

Floors, stairwells and amenities.

Regular rounds of corridors, stairwells, the gym and other amenities keep those areas for guests. Officers note doors that are propped open or locks that aren’t working, so engineering can fix them.

The garage.

Hotel garages and valet areas are frequent targets for break-ins. Officer rounds, patrol visits and live camera monitoring can each play a role, depending on the size and the budget.

Banquets and busy weeks.

When the ballroom is booked or a convention fills the hotel, event officers can work alongside your banquet team. Month-to-month terms make it easy to add hours for busy stretches and drop them after.
